As a part of the Israeli film festival, six Israeli movies of different genres are lined up to be screened. The selected movies include "Stones", "To Take A Wife", "Yellow Asphalt", "Campfire" and "There Were Nights" and "Time Of Favour".

The film festival would be held for from August 1 to August 7 from 6.30 pm, at the government museum auditorium, Sector 10, Chandigarh. It is being organized by the Chandigarh film society in collaboration with Chandigarh tourism under the guidance of secretary, Federation of Films Societies of India and Chandigarh Film Society, Tapesh Sharma.

Since the last 10 years, many such film festivals had been organized in Chandigarh for the residents to have a look in the cultures of other countries. "I feel the city has love for cinemas. I want to promote more world-class creative cinema in the city. For the same, I have been approached by Israel's cultural councillor Chana Anzi to screen their movies in India," said Sharma.

The festival is being organized to promote tourism and cinemas in Chandigarh. These movies are serious portrayal of Israeli life and culture and the role of women in the Israeli society. The theme of the Israeli movies basically depicts the social issues of Israel and thus showcases the idea in a serious manner. The ministry of information and broadcasting had granted the film federation to carry out such programmes within the country to promote entertainment with art.

"We feel pleasured to screen such international movies in our city. It is a step towards globalization and this could even help in promoting tourism in Chandigarh," said Anil Kumar, secretary tourism department, Chandigarh.
